Killing 2 Birds with 1 Stone

Yesterday was a three mile run, to make sure I got my run in early and before soccer practice I ran while I was teaching summer school. My students are required to walk 2 laps around Hudson Springs (1.7 miles a lap), and after watching this on Monday I decided I would have plenty of time to run while they were walking. When the students would walked the 2 laps it took them close to a hour and a half and some two hours to do, knowing that I was capable to run faster than a 30 minute mile I was determined to get my run out of the way at school.
Hudson Springs is a very hilly park with uneven surfaces, this was not good for my shins and calves. About half way through my first lap I started getting pains in my legs that I haven’t gotten for a few years now. I have decided it is from running on a softer surface gravel and stones instead of concrete. After I stopped stretched and walk for a minute, they were feeling a little better and I continued the remainder of my run.
Overall my run was decent and I got motivated to run faster when I was passing my students which pushed me a lot harder than I expected because they were a lot more spread out around the path then i thought they would be.
Today I have a five mile run which I plan on doing before soccer practice in Cleveland Heights, this will allow me to have new surroundings and look at old house which I enjoy. Hopefully I will be able to finish before practice.
